halloween movies; week 2

This week I didn't have as much time to watch movies as I would have liked. We were busy with our friend being here. We made a couple of visits to Disneyland and last night we went to Knott's Scary Farm with my older sister and her boyfriend. Although the mazes weren't as scary as Universal Horror Nights, the sets in the mazes were so detailed and gorgeous!

This week I only had a chance to watch House on Haunted Hill, Shaun of the Dead, Insidious, and Sinister. I didn't watch any new (to me) movies this week. (Spoilers for all of these movies ahead. )

House on Haunted Hill (1959)
Starring: Vincent Price, Carol Ohmart, Richard Long, Alan Marshal, Carolyn Craig, Julie Mitchum, and Elisha Cook.

Plot Summary | Eccentric millionaire Fredrick Loren and his 4th wife, Annabelle, have invited 5 people to the house on Haunted Hill for a "haunted House" party. Whoever will stay in the house for one night will earn ten thousand dollars each. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Starring| Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield, Dylan Moran, Lucy Davis, Penelope Wiltom, and Bill Nighy.

Plot Summary | Life isn't too good for Shaun. He lives with his best friend Ed, neglects his girlfriend Liz and despises his step-dad. When Liz dumps Shaun, he vows to get his life back on track. Unfortunately, this is the day that the dead has decided to come back to life. With a cricket bat and Ed by his side, Shaun sets out to rescue those he loves and those he doesn't love, and heads to the safest place he knows...the Winchester.

Insidious (2010)
Starring| Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Barbara Hershey, & Lin Shaye.

Plot Summary | A gripping story of a family in search of help for their son, Dalton, who fell into a coma after a mysterious incident in the attic. Little do they know that there is much more to this endless sleep than meets the eye as they explore the paranormal, and rediscover the past; the key to getting their son back once and for all.

Sinister (2012)
Starring| Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance, & James Ransone.

Plot Summary | A true-crime writer finds a cache of 8mm home movies films that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose career dates back to the 1960s.

I've also been catching snippets of various Nightmare on Elm Street movies they're marathoning on SyFy today, but I'm not counting those.
