lately + this weekend

Last Wednesday Adrian and Gabriel were able to get the car fixed. We were so relieved that it was over with and we wouldn't have to miss any more work because of it. Wednesday night we wandered around Target and I picked up some hair dye. I decided a while ago that I wanted to dye it a darker color. The color I picked out was supposed to make my hair a really dark brown, but it somehow turned out a dark reddish purple color. I don't know why I chose the brand that I did because I've had bad luck with that brand of dye in the past. So, even though I know it's terrible for my hair, Thursday morning I bought a color I've never dyed my hair before: black. I've always wondered how I'd look with black hair so I decided to just go for it. In bright light the red shows through and I think it looks pretty cool. At first it was weird for me, but now that I've had a couple of days to get used to it I really love it. I'll take some pictures later this week so you can see it.

We went to Anaheim on Friday and we made plans to meet up with my sister and her boyfriend to see The Lego movie at the AMC theater at Downtown Disney. We got to Anaheim around 2:30 so we had a lot of time to kill so we walked around California Adventure for a couple of hours. Our first stop was the Animation Academy to do some drawing. We drew Sulley from Monsters Inc. We really wanted to draw Olaf at 4:30 from Frozen but we didn't get there early enough and the line was huge. Instead we watched the Pixar Play parade. We don't stop to watch the parades very often, we're usually on our way to something else, so it was nice to just sit and watch. It's a short, but really cute parade. I took way too many pictures during the parade, I apologize.

We originally planned to help Adrian's mom rearrange her apartment, but other things came up so we didn't end up doing that. Maybe next time. Instead on Saturday she took us to get our taxes done. Usually we do our own online, but this year we're claiming in two different states PLUS they were giving out $50 in cash to everyone who gets their taxes done at Liberty Tax. It was packed! We put our names on the list, there was an hour and a half wait but as long as you came back after that time you would get right in if you were on the list. There is a really nice mall nearby so we went to check it out. Adrian's mom and Gabriel had been there before but it was new to Adrian and I. I could have spent the entire day there. It's three stories!! First we went into this really cool Japanese store. I got a pack of 9 candies in different odd flavors, a cat that is supposed to bring wealth and a Lion eraser. Adrian got a Happy Kitchen hamburger kit. He heard about them a while ago and has wanted one ever since. We made them this morning and it was...interesting and surprisingly tasted like a hamburger. After that we checked out an awesome sale at PacSun and we got strawberries and cream caramel corn. Eventually we made it back to get our taxes done. I'm relieved to have that out of the way. We ended the night by getting pizza and spaghetti from Adrian's favorite pizza place and watching Instructions Not Included. That movie is so cute and sad and I love it!

Did you do anything fun this weekend?
